FireReady VR™ is an immersive virtual reality (VR) simulation that helps individuals and communities understand wildfire risk, prepare and evacuate their homes, and make safer decisions before and during a wildfire event. Through realistic graphics and emotion-driven narratives of wildfire igniting within a community, FireReady VR™ sparks education into action to empower communities to be proactive about wildfire preparedness.

RESEARCH WITH PURPOSE

Developed through a National Science Foundation Accelerating Research Translation (ART) program, FireReady VR™ was designed to rapidly progress from an immersive risk communication research product into a deployable and effective tool for emergency managers, local governments, and at-risk communities. We have tested FireReady VR™ with over 50 agencies. Users overwhelmingly endorse FireReady VR™ for outreach and education.
